Seadrill is a deepwater drilling contractor, incorporated in Hamilton, Bermuda and managed from London, England. The company operates semi-submersible platforms, jackup rigs and drillships.   • In 2009, the Seadrill owned West Atlas jackup rig caught fire after having been leaking oil for ten weeks.   • In January 2019, a well incident took place on the West Hercules mobile drilling unit, located in the Barents Sea. During the drill operation, the lower marine riser package on the blowout preventer was unintentionally disconnected and the work had to be stopped. No injuries or fatalities were reported, as well as no environmental discharges.
  • A man suffered injuries to his right ankle, left knee and lower spine in an accident while working on a vessel owned by Seadrill.
