Schlumberger Limited is an international oilfield services company. Founded in 1926 in France by Conrad and Marcel Schlumberger it has offices in Paris, Houston, London, The Hague. This company registers approximately one hundred thousand employees  and reports an income of $ 32.815 billion.

  • During May 2008 Schlumberger reported a spill during drilling operations in the Gulf of Mexico, six miles away from shore and at two hundred and fifty two feet under sea. It was caused by equipment failure and the chemicals poured into the ocean were hydrochloric acid and caustic cleaner. No injuries or fatalities were reported.
  • In 1994, seven Schlumberger employees were asphyxiated and died of carbon monoxide poisoning in one of the company’s oil wells. The company was fined $ 41.750.
  • In 2016 Schlumberger employees were involved in a fatal helicopter crash where thirteen people died. Following the accident the Gulfaks B field was shut down and crisis management personnel was dispatched to assist employees and a center for the victims friends and families was established at an airport hotel in Bergen.
  • In 1999 two employees died while carrying out routine operations in a crane basket when it fell to the ground and both men were fatally injured.
