Ladish Company in Milwaukee

Ladish Company was a large metal manufacturer located in Milwaukee with deep roots in asbestos use. It used processes that required high heats to cast and force metal. At one time, up to 200 furnaces had to operate at the same time. These furnaces and other equipment were insulated to help prevent fire. Often, the insulation surrounding such furnaces was made of asbestos. Because of the high-heat processes, the surrounding insulation would become damaged, would could dislodge asbestos fibers into the air. Masons and other workers would have to replace the damaged equipment and insulation and were at risk for breathing in the asbestos fibers. Due to suspected asbestos exposure, former Ladish Company workers and family members have filed lawsuits against the manufacturers that supplied asbestos products to the company.
