Clovelly Oil later issued a press statement in regards to explosion and fire of the oil and gas rig. Clovelly announced its commitment to working with law enforcement to make sure that the resulting fire was contained. Additionally, Clovelly was unsure if any oil was discharged into the lake. The company also stated that although it was uncertain what caused the accident, at the time the explosion maintenance was performed on the platform.
